Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 August 2026
This explains what information I collect on languagebarbosa.com — including the free First 100 tool, the course, and the Brazilian Academy app — and what I do with it. Short version: I collect what’s needed to deliver the product and email you, I don’t sell it, and you can ask me to delete it at any time.
1. Who I am
Gustavo Barbosa, trading as Language Barbosa. Contact for anything privacy-related: barbosalanguage@gmail.com.
2. What I collect, and why
Your email address — when you unlock the free First 100 cards, join a waitlist, or buy the course. I use it to deliver what you asked for and to send you lessons, updates and, occasionally, offers. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Emails are sent through MailerLite, and a copy of sign-ups is kept on my own server.
Your account — when you create a login for the app: your email, a first name, and a password (stored hashed; I can’t read it). The account also stores your learning progress — which drills you’ve seen, how you graded yourself, checkpoint completion — so it syncs between your phone and laptop. Accounts and progress are stored with Supabase.
Payment details — processed entirely by Stripe. I receive your name, email, the amount, and the last four digits of your card for support purposes. I never see or store your full card number.
Your voice — the app’s pronunciation lab records you saying a line. Practice recordings you play back to yourself stay on your device. When you ask for a score, the audio clip is sent to my server and on to the speech-scoring service (Microsoft Azure Speech) to produce the result, and is not kept by me afterwards. No recording is ever shared with other students.
Community activity — what you post in the student community is hosted by Skool and governed by Skool’s own privacy policy as well as this one. Posts are visible to other members.
Technical basics — like any website, the server records standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and to keep things working. The free tool and the app use your browser’s local storage to remember your progress on that device.
3. Cookies and analytics
The site uses a session cookie to keep you signed in to the app, and local storage to save progress. I may use standard analytics and advertising measurement tools (such as a Meta pixel) to understand which pages work and to show relevant ads; if and when these are active, they set their own cookies under their own policies. I don’t use advertising trackers inside the paid app.
4. What I don’t do
- I don’t sell or rent your information to anyone.
- I don’t share your email with other businesses for their marketing.
- I don’t use your voice recordings for anything other than scoring your pronunciation.
5. Who else handles your data
To run the product I rely on: Hostinger (web hosting), Supabase (accounts and progress), Stripe (payments), MailerLite (email), Microsoft Azure (speech scoring), Skool (community), and a video host for the lessons. Each processes data only to provide its service to me, under its own privacy terms. Some of these companies are outside your country; by using the product you agree to that transfer.
6. How long I keep it
Your account and progress: for as long as you have an account. Email subscription: until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. Purchase records: for as long as tax law requires. Scoring audio: not retained.
7. Your rights
You can ask me at any time to show you what information I hold about you, correct it, or delete it — including closing your account. Email barbosalanguage@gmail.com and I’ll do it within 30 days. Deleting your account ends your access to the app and your progress can’t be recovered afterwards. If you live in the EU, UK, Brazil, or another place with data-protection law, you have these rights by law as well as by my promise, including the right to complain to your local authority.
8. Children
The product is for adults. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16; if you believe a child has signed up, email me and I’ll remove it.
9. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, I’ll say so by email. The date at the top tells you when it was last updated.
